WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR WEDDING DRESS FITTING
How much do alterations cost?
Naturally, we all come in different shapes and sizes, which means each bride will require a truly bespoke service depending on their dress and what alterations are needed. We will ensure that your dress will fit like a glove before you leave us.
Alteration costs are determined by how labor intensive a gown is to work on. For example a more simple gown with less layers will cost less to alter than a very intricate gown with lots of layers.
I am able to provide a rough quote if you’re happy to send images of the dress so I can see the type of material and details. This way you will know what to expect before hand.
BRIDES
The average cost for standard alterations is around £450 - £500 including fittings, and can be more or less depending on the work we need to do on your dress. Heavily embellished + lace dresses are normally closer to the £600 price region as an average, standard alterations would normally include; shorten, lift shoulders, take in bust, adjust waist, hips + bustle. If less is needed the price will of course reflect this.
BRIDESMAIDS
As a guideline, I would recommend budgeting approximately £60-£150 per gown. This would generally include hem adjustments, bust fit, strap adjustments & full gown steam. If less is needed the price will of course reflect this.
On your wedding day
On your fitting I will provide you and your bridal party with all the knowledge, tips and tricks on getting the bride ready on the morning of the wedding.
However, I do also offer a service to come and help you get ready should you require this. That way the pressure is off the maids and the mums! I will ensure your wedding party dresses are steamed & ready to go! I will be there to pull all the layers out if you have a full dress and lace up the corset correctly, allowing enough time to tighten this up again before you leave.

Things that you need to bring
It is essential that you bring with you the correct underwear & shoes for your fitting as these items directly affect the fit and length of your dress. If you are unsure about underwear options we can discuss this prior to your fitting.You can also bring any accessories if you would like to see your full look before your big day. Tiaras, veils ect. I offer professional fittings at my home studio. I have room for one bride and a guest, we limit guests so we can really concenrate on you and how you want your dress to fit and feel. Timescales
I can be quite flexible with the time scale as I do not overload and take on a lot of dresses at one time. This means close attention to detail each dress at a time.
Dependent on the amount of work required, brides can book their first fitting approximately 8-9 weeks before their wedding date. Bridesmaids need a little less time with 3-4 weeks. However if you need a quicker turn around closer to your date, do not hesitate to ask!
Most clients will require 2-3 fittings with their gown to ensure the fit is perfect.
